The 6A’s Trip to London

On February 25, our class went on a six-day trip to London. We were accompanied by Prof. Elke Matt-Hollersbacher and Prof. Michael Legen.

After our arrival we took a walk through Westminster and were deeply impressed when we saw the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben by night. Later that evening we watched the film „Gravity“ at one of Europe’s biggest IMAX cinemas.

In the following five days we visited lots of interesting sights and museums, went on a cable car and boat ride to Greenwich and took part in an exciting tour through the‘ Emirates Stadium‘. Saturday was soccer day. Some of us were lucky and had tickets for the footballmatch Chelsea vs. Everton. It goes without saying that this was the absolute highlight! The atmosphere was amazing and it was fantastic to watch an English Premier League match. Those of us who didn’t watch the game spent their time at the Science Museum and visited the famous department store Harrod’s.

On Sunday we walked through Hyde Park and listened to some weird speakers at Speaker’s Corner. Some of us were even brave enough to start a discussion with those strange ‘speakers‘. On our last day we went to Buckingham Palace, but as we weren’t invited for tea with her majesty the Queen we watched the ceremony ‘ The Changing of Guard‘ instead and in the afternoon we visited the BBC.

The rest of our time we went shopping (one of us even bought five pairs of sneakers!!!), enjoyed a funny evening at a bowling centre and had lots of fun. London is definitely worth a visit. It was a great experience for all of us, thanks to Mrs. Matt and Mr. Legen!
